Description:

The NSF-REU program on "Structure and Function of Proteins" at the University of South Alabama runs for 10 weeks over the summer. The program starts on May 18 (Check in May 17) and run for ten weeks until July 24 (Check out July 25). If a student needs to arrive at a different time, we have always made accommodations.

All students are housed in the university dorms, and we cover those expenses. Participants in the program receive a stipend of $450/week and $50/wk for meals.

The program includes a variety of projects in the area of protein biology and chemistry. Students must have completed organic chemistry to apply. Qualifications: Must have completed 6 hours of Organic Chemistry. Participants from underrepresented minorities and from HBCU are specially encouraged to apply. The GPA is expected to be around 3.0 or higher.
