Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Proteomics and Functional Genomics

Description: The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, in association with the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) SITES Program and the College of Letters and Science, is pleased to announce an undergraduate research program that will allow undergraduate students to gain experience in research in proteomics and functional genomics. Students will work with faculty mentors and other REU student participants to investigate research questions germane to a variety of biological disciplines, ranging from biochemistry to animal physiology through the lenses of proteomics and functional genomics. Student researchers will receive training in and have full access to state-of-the-art instrumentation housed within the NSF / Robert E. Moore Proteomics and Functional Genomics Core Facility at UW Oshkosh.

Qualifications: Applicants must be: - US citizens or permanent residents enrolled in an accredited academic institution - Biology, Chemistry, or related majors - Sophomore or juniors and have completed an entry-level set of biology and chemistry coursework. - Seniors with at least an additional term of coursework remaining after Summer 2008 are eligible. - First-year students with exceptional records and experience will also be considered.
