Research Program in Mathematical Biology
Penn State Behrend
Type of Institution: Comprehensive University
URL: http://vortex.bd.psu.edu/~mathdept/research/REU.php3
Description: This program encourages and supports the interplay between biological experimentation and mathematical modeling. Students in the program develop and analyze mathematical models that reflect and quantify biological systems. Participants work in teams with faculty members on projects in the following areas: pattern formation in active media, population dynamics, statistical methods to quantify populations, biomedical fluid dynamics and bioinformatics.
Qualifications: The only academic requirement is completion of a course in ordinary differential equations; no training in biology is required. In accordance with NSF guidelines, students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions.
