Description: The REU participants work with WSU materials science faculty and conduct research on projects such as materials for MEMS devices, laser materials, and biomaterials using novel techniques such as nanoindentation and electron backscatter diffraction imaging. At the end of the summer, the students present their work at a university poster session. Travel to conferences after the summer can be provided.
Qualifications: Undergraduate (freshman to seniors) applicants from any science, technology, and engineering discipline are encouraged to apply if the student is not graduating by the summer of 2009. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.
