Description:
The Department of Physics & Astronomy at Stony Brook University is
hosting an eight-week program for qualified undergraduate physics
and/or astronomy majors. The program gives students an intensive
research experience with leading researchers in the field. REU
participants will be assigned to a faculty mentor and become fully
integrated into active research groups using state-of-the-art
facilities. Participants will have the opportunity to work closely with
their faculty mentor, attend weekly seminars, participate in workshops
and present their research results at a student symposium at the close
of the program.
Participants will be placed in one of the following areas:
Astronomy
Atmospheric Physics
High Energy Particle Physics
Instructional Apparatus Development
Laser and Optics
Nuclear Physics
Solid State Physics
Theoretical Physics
Applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis.
Qualifications: The REU Physics and Astronomy Program is open to all undergraduate students
majoring in the field of physics and/or astronomy. Applicants must be
U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
