Description: The Summer Research Institute in Biomedical Materials Science and Engineering (RIBSE) is an intensive, 12-week program combining didactic teaching (lectures, seminars, research ethics and laboratory demonstrations) with team-based laboratory research to introduce undergraduates to facets of interdisciplinary research that require going beyond the disciplinary-based approaches in which all students are grounded. Fields of study: analytical, organic, inorganic, medicinal, physical, biological chemistry, engineering, physics and pharmaceuticals science.
Qualifications: Undergraduate students will be eligible to participate in RIBSE if, at the time of application, they: have a GPA of 3.0 or better, are US citizens, permanent residents (i.e., holding a green card) or lawfully admitted into the United States for the purpose of academic study (e.g., on a F or J visa)., earned no fewer than 45 credits toward a baccalaureate degree (as evidenced by official academic transcripts), are enrolled full-time in a baccalaureate program at a college or university accredited by a DoE-recognized accrediting agency. Have an expressed interest in biomedical research as demonstrated by coursework and participation in extracurricular research.
